God's invitiation for us to receive Sacraments is always present. God is patient and awaits our response. If you are now ready to respond to God's invitation to prepare for and receive the Sacrament of Confirmation contact charlotte@epiphanycatholic.org. Our office will be pleased to assist you in your ongoing journey of faith.
SPONSORS
Adult candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation should view the process as coming to the fullness of initiation in the Catholic Christian community. Because of its initiatory character, candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation need a sponsor. Sponsors must have received the Sacraments of Initiation, be free to practice the faith and at least 16 years of age (Canon #892-893). If a sponsor is married, the marriage must be as a Sacrament in the Catholic Church.
EXPECTATIONS
The adult candidate for the Sacrament of Confirmation should be at least 18 years of age, no longer a student in high school, baptized Catholic, received first Eucharist and actively practicing their faith. If married, the marriage needs to be as a Sacrament in the Catholic Church prior to beginning the preparation to receive the Sacarment of Confirmation. (If your marriage is not presently as a Sacrament in the Catholic Church, contact Charlotte at 281-578-8271 for additional information.)
Candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation will need to meet with the Director of Religious Education for an initial conversation to discuss the preparation process. You must bring an updated baptismal certificate with you to this meeting (request an updated baptismal certificate from your church of baptism within six months of celebrating the sacrament). To make arrangements for the initial conversation, contact [email protected] or call 281-578-8271.
Preparation classes for the Sacrament of Adult Confirmation begin immediately following Easter with six consecutive Monday evening classes from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. . In addition, there is an initial Saturday morning retreat and a Saturday morning of prayer and reflection. Candidates for the sacrament, together with their sponsors, are expected to attend the Saturday morning of prayer and reflection in addition to the celebration of the Sacrament. Candidates (those seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation for adults) are expected to attend each of the preparation sessions. Book fee for the class is $35.
