Blood Drive

                             “A Big Heart Thank You to All the Blood Donors /Heroes”

                        Dear Epiphany of the Lords community and our friends that helped in sending a large amount a blood to the Gulf Coast Blood Center in 2023. All you donors (Heroes) made a big and immediate impact to a large group of people who desperately need blood. Those needing surgery, accident victims, organ recipients, cancer patients, burn victims, and/or those having blood diseases benefited from your unselfish acts of generosity. We had 5 successful drives l(221 donors) last years for which we received two achievement awards. So, thank all of you truly special donors (Heroes).

This year The Gulf Coast Blood Center has challenged Epiphany to +50 donors per Blood Drive . We have 5 scheduled this year with the first one scheduled for January 28^th. Out of 7000 families, we have enough people to set some records in 2024 too. Please continue to make your valuable/generous blood donations. Also recruit others to become heroes too. The need for blood never stops and your donation will always be put to extending and/or saving many people lives.

Epiphany has been hosting blood drives with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center since 2003.  Epiphany of the Lord sponsors quarterly blood drives to help those in poor health receive the life-giving blood.  The Blood Drives for 2024 are on the following dates:         
Each unit of blood is typically separated into three components: red blood cells, plasma (the liquid part), and platelets.  Each component can go to a separate person, so each unit of blood (about a pint) can help up to three individuals depending on their needs.  Each day the Houston area hospitals need over 1000 units of blood - seven days a week.  

The Blood Drive is held in the Parish Activity Center Rec Room and pre-registration is needed.  Donors must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be at least 17 years old.  COVID safety measures will be used and thus a mask is to be worn.  There may be other eligibility requirements, and full health history will be taken at the beginning of each donation.
