YOU DID IT AGAIN!!! at the December 8 2024 To All Blood Donors / Heroes & Those that came and weren’t able to give this time: YOU DID IT AGAIN!!! YOU SET ANOTHER RECORD - God Bless these Merry Gentlemen and Women. You are the “kind” of folks that make big differences all over this world. The Spirit and Generosity that come out of all of you is nothing short of Heroic. Not everyone that can give blood does, and those that want to can’t always give. Scores of recipients, their families, and friends are very grateful to all of you this Christmas. In many cases (bike and car accidents, serious burns, blood diseases, and cancers), without replacing loss or compromised blood, the victims or patients will not survive. They all are blessed and fortunate to have caring people as all of you are. Here are the final numbers:
We set a goal of 80 people signing up. We had 97 people did.
A goal of 54 units was set. We had 79 units 34% above our goal and 10% above Sept’s Drive.
You helped heal and save as may at 237 recipients
To allow those donors that could not give on December 8th the set it up with the Gulf Coast Blood Center off Grand Parkway (Hwy 99 & Highland Knolls)and Cy-fair office started receiving two before and after Dec. 8th. That allowed 12 more Epiphany Heroes to give their precious gift of live which total 14 units. All they had to do was give our code 2340 for Epiphany of the Lord to receive credit
We had a large staff of 11 very efficient GCRBC technicians including two supervisors that did a wonderful job taking care of all the blood donors. Despite the early morning rain, they were ready by 8 AM to start drawing blood from you very awesome caring people that had to deal with the cold and rain too.

Epiphany has been hosting blood drives with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center since 2003. Epiphany of the Lord sponsors quarterly blood drives to help those in poor health receive the life-giving blood. The Blood Drives for 2025 are on the following dates:
February 2, 2025 April 13, 2025 June 22. 2025 September 7, 2025 December 14, 2025
Each unit of blood is typically separated into three components: red blood cells, plasma (the liquid part), and platelets. Each component can go to a separate person, so each unit of blood (about a pint) can help up to three individuals depending on their needs. Each day the Houston area hospitals need over 1000 units of blood - seven days a week.
The Blood Drive is held in the Parish Activity Center Rec Room and pre-registration is needed. Donors must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be at least 17 years old. COVID safety measures will be used and thus a mask is to be worn. There may be other eligibility requirements, and full health history will be taken at the beginning of each donation. Register online at www.giveblood.org.
Please consider donating at our next Blood Drive or at the Gulf Coast Blood Center at 1575 S. Grand Parkway and use Epiphany's donor group number 2340.
