"When this word is proclaimed in the Church and put into living practice, it enlightens the faithful through the working of the Holy Spirit and draws them into the entire mystery of the Lord as a reality to be lived" (Introduction to the Lectionary for Mass #47).
From the very beginning, Christians have gathered together to hear the word of God, and from the very beginning, there have been individuals entrusted with the task of reading the word. Those given this task are called Lectors. The lector is appointed for a function proper to them, that of reading the word of God in the liturgical assembly. Accordingly, they are to proclaim the readings from sacred Scripture, except for the gospel in the Mass and other sacred celebrations;
Lectors are required to:
Be skilled at public speaking
Be registered at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic parish
Be Confirmed Catholics who attend mass on a regular basis
